With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Gene Appleyard (Alliance, Nebraska), born in Hemingford, Nebraska, who passed away on May 30, 2019 at the age of 79. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Lloyd Appleyard and Lela Appleyard (Bowser); his grandson Nicolas Gasseling; and his great grandchild Xander Dean. He is survived by: his wife Bonnie J. Shimek; his children, Debra Dorenbach (Randy) of Hay Springs, Brenda Flores (Mario) of Loveland, CO, Cheri Gasseling (JC), Pam Letcher (Jared) and Cory Appleyard (Cristy Finley) of Alliance; his grandchildren, Brandon Dorenbach (Amy), Jeremy Dorenbach (Nikki), Shaynen Flores, Reece Flores, Mason Flores, Jared Gasseling (Lindsay), Shawn Gasseling, Christopher Gasseling, Kaden Gasseling, Jessica Dean (Jeremy), Ryan West, Jayde Appleyard and Keirra Appleyard; and his sister Donna Lanckriet of Hay Springs. He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren.
