He is survived by: his wife Ellen Culp of Mary's Catholic; his children, Laura Steele of Lincoln, Jason (Lisa) of Beatrice and Jeremy of Alexandria; his grandchildren, Grace, Donovan Steele, Austin Hinz, Kelsie Roberts (Dijon), Kylee and James VanWesten; his great grandchild Baker Roberts; his siblings, Jean Smith (Lynn) of Tobias, Roger of Alexandria, Robert (Deb) of Alexandria, Donna Rut (John) of Daykin, Peggy Niederklein (Mark) of Tobias, Ellen Long (Mike) of Hebron, Glenn (Tallie) of Plattsmouth, Carla Hoins (Doug) of Superior and Jay (Staci) of Tobias; and his siblings-in-law, Carol Aude of Belvidere, Wilma Bonilla (Jose) of Tobias, Terri Holtzen (Steve) of Stromsburg, Mari Bowman (Raymond) of Jetmore, Denise Andersen (Daryl) of Wahoo, Gail Gilliam of Chester and Dale of Hebron.

He was immediately given a blood transfusion, donated by his father, and was administered the sacraments of Baptism and Last Rites.
