He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Milton John and Clara Smith (Thiem); his grandfather John; his daughter Susan; his wife Joan Smith of Albion, NE; his children, Lonnie Smith (Dawn) of Albion, Terri Schmitz (Bob) of Albion, Dan Smith (Joni) of Central City, NE, Jill Zoucha (Tim) of Albion and Jane Wallin (Barry) of Newman Grove, NE; his son-in-law Harold "Skip" Hetherington of Lincoln, NE; his half-brothers, Brian Becklun (Pam) of Elgin, NE and Milton Thiem of Omaha, NE; his daughter Sue Hetherington; his children-in-law, Norman Henn and Kimberlie Smith; his brother Robert E. Smith; and his stepsiblings, Joan Becklun Pasek and John J. Becklun. He was also cherished by 19 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren.
