He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Harms and Viola Harms (Meints); his father-in-law Alfred Kempkes; his grandson Blake Masur; and his siblings-in-law, Deb Kempkes, Guy Mulder and Ted Bailey.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia Harms of Adams; his children, Jeff Harms of Sterling, Becky McAuliffe (Ryan) of Sterling, Rachel Horstman (Mark) of Sterling and Sarah Bredthauer (Ryan) of Sterling; his grandchildren, Jessa, Jack, Sam, Ridge, Callen, Brody, Kade, Reese, Will and Mathis; his siblings, Mary Huls (Loren) of Pickrell, Diane Harms (Dennis) of Adams and Daniel Harms (Sharon) of Hickman; his siblings-in-law, Bob Kempkes (Jan) of Sandown, NH, Don Kempkes of Lincoln, Rick Kempkes (Ardi) of Douglas, Dave Kempkes (Ann) of Imperial, Rosie VerMaas (Darrel) of Hickman, MariLyn Bailey of Dwight and Christy Adams (Gary) of Lyons, CO; and his mother-in-law Rosella Kempkes of Adams. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Sterling American Legion and Immanuel Lutheran Church of rural Sterling.
