He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Lawrence Backman and Anna Backman (Hryckow); his grandfather Oscar; his wife Helen Steinert; his children, Merlin Backman (Karla), Barry Backman (Lorrie), Valerie Johnson (Kevin) of Arvada, CO and Twila Kemp (James); his grandchildren, Logan Backman (Saje), Nickolas Backman, Kesley Backman, Alisha Mertz (Shane), Amanda Triebold (Eric), Kristi Geiger (Nic), Lacey Nelson (Nathan), Dustin Johnson (Angie), Marhya Johnson, Katie Johnson, Micah Johnson, Norah Kemp, Olivia Kemp and Beti Kemp; his siblings, Sidney Backman (Marlene), Rosemary Johnson and Beverly Estes; his sister-in-law Annette Backman; his siblings, Baby Boy, Norlin, Melvin, Genevieve and Alvina; and his siblings-in-law, Chester Johnson, Earl Estes and Margaret Backman. He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.
