It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Melvin Melgaard of Williston, North Dakota, born in Ambrose, North Dakota, who passed away on August 31, 2022, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, John Melgaard and Elvina Melgaard (Henning); his wife Melba (Watterud); his daughter Michelle Wittmayer (Irving); and his siblings, Berniece Schilke (Walter), Al Melgaard (Doris), Jordan "Slim" Melgaard (Evey), Dick Davis and Watterud.
He is survived by: his children, Gaylen Karstetter (Gurine) of Bismarck, Randy Karstetter (Sherry) of Bismarck, David Melgaard (Debra) of Detroit Lakes, MN and Janelle McMillan of Sacramento, CA.; his sister Stella Davis of Bremerton, WA; and his family Leonard. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; along with many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
People young and old flocked to him; for example, a group of "youngsters" he met during the pandemic at Lonnie's Roadhouse always made sure he got to breakfast daily to chat about current events.
