He was predeceased by: his parents, Gustav Berndt and Frederica Berndt (Senechal); his children, Dennis and Wanda; his wife Irene; his parents-in-law, Arthur and Jesse Henderson (Thomas); and his siblings, Rueben, Walter, Leslie (Skee), Russell, Agnes Riedel, Grace Elliot, Ellie Johnson, Gladys Martin, Amy Smick, Ethel Berndt and Marcia Berndt.

He is survived by: his children, Gene Berndt (Lenore) of Billings and Colleen Peterson (Cal); his daughter-in-law Barb Berndt of Helena, MT; his grandson Troy Berndt of Missoula, MT; his great grandchildren, Braelynn and Ainsleigh; his grandchild Shayla Vaira (Rocky); his great grandchildren, Triston, Madison and Mya of Lithia, Florida; his grandchildren, Brady Berndt (Megan) of Moorhead, MN and Laci Hart (James) of Gillette, WY; his great grandchildren, Gavin, Cooper, Kynli and Aria; his grandchild Rayna Jorgenson (Erik) of Bainville, MT; his children, Jolee, Parker, Lance Berndt (Jessica) of Fargo, ND and Megan Berndt of Richmond, IN; his sister-in-law Irlene Berndt; and his friend Sally Melland. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
