He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Aftem and Gina Aftem (Brenden); his son Michael Aftem; and his siblings, Gloria Arneson, Joane Dranselka, LeRoy Aftem and Merle Aftem.
He is survived by: his wife Gwen; his sons, Donald Aftem (Lisa) of Minot and Troy Aftem (Liz) of Westhope; his grandchildren, Trey Welstad, Taylin Aftem, Mason Mach, Lauren Mach and Addison Mach; and his sister-in-law Lorraine Aftem. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
