He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank and Mary Barta (Malecha) of Lonsdale; his siblings, Stanley, Richard, Henry, Francis, Rose Schmitt and Helen Bastyr; and his siblings-in-law, Francis Schmitt, George Bastyr, Bernard Bisek, Larry Trnka, Angie Barta and Faye Barta.
He is survived by: his wife Joan Marie Vasko; his children, Michael of Brooklyn, Conn., Deborah Tanner (Edward), Lawrence (Debi Kumpf), Middleton, Wis, Lynne Sajdak (Jeffrey), Marcell, Minn and Kenneth; his grandchildren, Kyle Barta (Casara), Jason Weaver, Justin Weaver (Stephanie), Heather Truitt (Paul), Rebecca Tanner, Bradley Slocum (Sara), Steven Slocum, Samantha Neumann, Olivia Sajdak, Courteney Sajdak and Jillian Sajdak; his great grandchildren, Tyler, Nathan, Sara, Vincent, Jeffrey, Cade, Owen and Jack; his siblings, Thomas (Lorraine), Donald, Alois (Lynn) and Mary Trnka; and his sisters-in-law, Mary Barta, Kathleen Barta and Dorothy Barta. He is also survived by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
