He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Gilberts and Gladys Gilberts (Gunderson); and his siblings, Vernita Bubar, MaryAnn Pfiefer, Oscar Gilberts, Graydon Gilberts, Dale Gilberts and Bennett Gilberts.

He is survived by: his wife Arlene Rheault of West Fargo, ND; and his sons, Craig Gilberts of Horace, ND, Todd Gilberts (Kathy) of Detroit Lakes, MN and Lonny Gilberts of West Fargo, ND. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
