He was predeceased by: his parents, Martin McDonald and Hildegarde McDonald (Zeiher); his brother William Robert; and his brother-in-law Dick Ekdahl. He is survived by: his wife Kathy Sauvageau (Nein) of West Fargo, ND; his children, Col. Gregory McDonald (Heidi) of Bismarck, ND and Suzanne McDonald; his siblings, Gayle Jaeger (McDonald) of Detroit Lakes, MN, Lisa Benson (Wade) of Moorhead, MN, Lynette Neuschwander (Darin) of Fargo, ND, Chad Nein (Robin) of West Fargo, ND and Christy Thorns (McDonald) of Frazee, MN; his grandchildren, Jesika, Mitchell, McKenzie, Breana, Jade, Jared, Taylor, Parker, Alayna, Faith, Tanner and Tyler; his great grandchild Milo; and his sister Carol Ekdahl. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
