He is survived by: his wife Janis Hanson; his children, Michael Jay Hanson (Jennifer Manson) and Kari Ann Rumpza (Douglas) of Fargo; the mother of his children Joyce Hanson of West Fargo; his child Janis'; and his stepchildren, Bruce Curtis of Fargo and Lisa Well (Martin) of Bismarck. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
