It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Lyle Kath of Wahpeton, North Dakota, who passed away on October 8, 2020, at the age of 69, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Reuben Kath and Maxine Kath; and his daughter Jacy. He is survived by: his wife Jody Kay Gagelin; his children, Carisa Marovec (Justin) and Darian Kath (Shelly); and his granddaughters, Alayna and Leah.

“Lizo and I were teammates at Minot State and friendly opponents in amateur baseball. I developed a lasting friendship with him after our first introduction. In the years after baseball, we would communicate via email teasing each other about our experiences on the baseball field trying to outdo the other with humor about baseball and life. Lizo was a lot of fun, and he was a great athlete. He battled thru health issues and never let it defeat him. His batting stroke was like heaven, beautiful!”

“I am so saddened to hear of Lyle’s passing! We met playing racquetball in Rochester where his sense of fair play and decency were admired by all, characteristics that I’m sure were strongly imbedded in his character. I always considered him a good friend and we attended Twins games over the years, sharing our love for the team. I’m so thankful we managed to stay in touch via email and through his Pearls after he moved back to North Dakota. My thoughts and prayers to aJody, Carisa, and Darian.”
