He was predeceased by: his parents, Anton, Sr. Herding and Elizabeth Herding (Biewer); his wife Mary Lou; and his children, Steven and Melinda.

He is survived by: his children, Michelle Dahlman (John) of Rosholt and Brian Herding (Diane) of West Fargo; and his brother Philip Herding (Agatha) of Hankinson. He is also survived by three grandchildren.
