She was predeceased by: her parents, Elmer DeVries and Inez DeVries (Keeney); her brother Gene DeVries; her granddaughter Melissa Peterson; and her brother-in-law Dale Couillard.
She is survived by: her husband ElRoy Smith; her children, Gary Smith (Janice Drewlow), Lori Peterson (Rob) and Jeffrey Smith (Kristine); her grandchildren, Tyler Smith, Nathan Smith, Lindsay Severson, Abi Lampert and Maija Lampert; her great grandchildren, Delaney Smith and Max Severson; her siblings, Barbara Couillard of Breckenridge, MN and James DeVries (Claudia); and her sister-in-law Joyce DeVries.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Red Cross Blood Drive or the Richland-Wilkin Humane Society.
