It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Gerald Kent Nelson of Valley City, North Dakota, who passed away on January 16, 2025, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. Though his name may fade from the lips of time, the imprint Gerald leaves upon the hearts of his loved ones remains eternally vivid — a testament to the depth of his spirit and the richness of his legacy.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred Nelson and Mildred Nelson (Velure). He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Scott; his children, Michael of Valley City, Rod (Kathy) of Valley City and Joyce Kelly (Kevin); and his grandchildren, Ryan Nelson (Chrissy), Lance Nelson (Samantha) and Jarod Nelson (Emily Fletcher). He is also survived by four great grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Monday, January 20th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM and on Tuesday, January 21st 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service was held on Tuesday, January 21st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Our Savior's Lutheran Church (138 3rd St NW, Valley City, ND 58072).
