He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Axelson and Agnes Axelson; his former wife Evelyn "Evie" Mathison Axelson; his brothers, Lester, Donald, Robert and Clifford Raymond; and his grandson Dustin Mortenson.
He is survived by: his children, Marge Mortenson (Steven) of Kronenwetter, Larry Axelson (Valerie) of Powers Lake, ND and Greg Axelson (Amy) of Williston, ND; his brothers, Lloyd Axelson of Contoocook and Ronnie Axelson; and his grandchildren, Stephanie, Jeffrey, Justin, Kelsey and Trevor. He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren.
