He was predeceased by: his parents, Edmund Hamel and Ellen Hamel (Luddington); his wife Judy Sommers; his daughter Nichol Pollary; his siblings, Eugene (Beverly), Kenny (Donna) and Betty Teigen (LeRoy); and his brother-in-law Marvin Streich.
He is survived by: his sons, Brad Hamel of Minot and Donald Hamel (Jennifer) of Minot; his son-in-law Derek Pollary of Baxter, MN; his grandchildren, Brandon, Emily and Taylor; his great grandchildren, Jaime, Emma and Jensen; and his siblings, Louis Hamel (Theresa) of Lakota, Elaine Larson of Havre, MT and Barb Streich of Minot.
