He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Sr. Wittenberg and Anna Wittenberg (Schmidt) of Noltimier Township; his siblings, Ralph, Albert, Carl, Lillian and Esther; his daughter Shela Olson Wittenberg; and his granddaughter Michele Olson.

He is survived by: his children, Rochelle Hansen (Les) of Litchville, ND, Renee Ott (Larry) and Shawn Wittenberg (Kim); and his grandchildren, Derrick Olson (Ana), Daniela Olson, Ashley Rufsvold (Michael), Nicole Latt (Robert), Heather Vogel (Jeff), Seth Ott (Kristen), Ethan Ott, Alex Wittenberg (Megan) and Miranda Wittenberg. He is also survived by his nine great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church or Hillside Cemetery, Valley City.
