She was predeceased by: her parents, Benard Bjerke and Ida Bjerke (Engen); her husband Paul Bartel; her siblings, Betty Bjerke, Bernice Bjerke, Alvin Bjerke, Elliot Bjerke and Barbara Bjerke; her parents-in-law, Sarah and Henry Bartel; her siblings-in-law, Alvin Bartel, Emil Luverne Bartel, Bob Underwood, Jake Toews, Earl Spenst, Garland Anderson, John Heffern, Evelyn Toews, Evangeline Bartel, Betty Bartel, Agnes Spenst, Connie Bjerke and Adeline Anderson; her nieces, Arlene Bartel and Jennifer Anderson; and her nephew Richard Underwood.

She is survived by: her daughters, Paula Bartel of Devils Lake, ND, Anita Bartel of Bismarck, ND and Karla Backman (Merlin) of Bismarck, ND; her grandchildren, Logan Backman (Saje) of Wilton, ND, Nickolas Backman of Mandan, ND and Kesley Backman; her great grandchild Augustus Backman; and her siblings, Juanita Underwood of Burleson and Izola Heffern of Grand Forks. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
