He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Thiel and Josephine Thiel (Keck); his daughter Myra Axtman; his grandson Michael Thiel; his great grandchildren, Emily and Savanah Thiel; his brother Laurence; his sister-in-law Lois Thiel; his sister Arlene; and his brother-in-law George Hanson.
He is survived by: his parent-in-law BettyAnn Marie Spokely; his wife BettyAnn; his children, Vicki Hoffart, Wayne Thiel (Ruth), Glen Thiel (Helga), Jerome Thiel (Kim) and Teri Xavier (Mark Ellis); and his son-in-law Wayne Axtman (Elaine Cofell). He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
