It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Esther V. L. Smith (Rugby, North Dakota), who passed away on April 3, 2018, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her husband Loren E. Smith; her parents, Andrew Tastad and Anna Tastad; her siblings, Myrtle Tastad, Bernice Tastad, Gladys Sorensen, Selmer Tastad, Albert Tastad, Tilford Tastad and Harold Tastad; her great grandchild Christine Cooper; and her sons-in-law, Mike Schmitz and Mark Granger.
She is survived by: her children, Laurel Toyne (Kevin) of Glendale, AZ, Naomi Schmitz Rislow (Tom) of Cashton, WI, Cynthia Granger of St. Louis Park, MN, Sidonia Burnell (Robert) of Oshkosh, WI, Sonja Myhre (Milton) of Fargo, ND and Tim Smith (Kristin) of Russelville; her brothers, Kenneth Tastad of Rugby, ND and Irvin Tastad (Margaret) of Fertile, MN; and her grandchildren, Ashley Toyne, Aimee Blunt (Christopher), Tara Schmitz, Derek Schmitz (Kate), Megan Hanson (David), Christopher Burnell, Sarah Burnell, Shannon Brager (Adam), Chrystal Cooper (Michael), Kelsey Hengel (Cory), Brittni Myhre (Josh Elke) and Noah Smith. She is also survived by 19 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
