It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Claytus Mattern of Rugby, North Dakota, who passed away on October 23, 2020, at the age of 77, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter Mattern and Elizabeth Mattern (Jaeger); his sisters, Donna Winson (Walt) and Irene Hlavorson (Orris); his siblings-in-law, Ray Burkhart and Wanda Mattern; and his nephews, Wayne Mattern and Tim Thorp.
He is survived by: his wife Ilene Black; his sons, Vince of Rugby, Lawrence Steven (Vita) of Rugby and LeRoy (Tamara) of Willow City; his grandchildren, Rachael, Ashley (Michael), Erica (Keith), Christy (Lee), Matthew, Carson, Katelyn, Tyler (Jacelyn), Jesse and Aleah; his siblings, Kenneth of Rugby and Diane Burkhart of New Kensington, PA; and his daughter-in-law Bonnie Mattern. He is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren.
