He was predeceased by: his parents, Ruth Vatne (Egeland) and Rudy Vatne; his uncle Donald Egeland; his sisters, Eileen Kalina (Tommy), Dorothy Holm (Robert), Doris Domagala (Lawrence) and Betty Jean Schleeve; his brother-in-law Ronald Sarsland; his nephew Wayne Holm; and his niece Connie Jean Kalina.
He is survived by: his close friend Shannon Barth; his children, Kim Holt (David) of Piedmont, SD, Scott Vatne of Black Hawk, SD, Brandee Vatne of Denton, TX and Bridget Vatne of Spearfish, SD; and his grandchildren, Cassidy Drevlow (Zach), Hunter Vatne, Colton Vatne, Zoey Holt, Marlea Vatne, Vin Vatne and Madison Vatne.
