He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Carl Kersten and Gertrude Kersten (Lokken); his spouse Robyn Henry; his children, Scott Kersten of Sawyer, Chad Kersten (Heather) of Minot and Kelly Haugeberg (Brad) of Lake Metigoshe; his grandchildren, Brandon, Mayce Brodehl, Ethan, Grace Kersten, Jake Stein and Carley Kersten; his great grandchildren, Landon and Logan Brodehl; his brothers, Gene Kersten (Linda), Steve Kersten (Pam) and Jay Kersten (Diane); and his siblings-in-law, Patty Lodoen, Wanda Henry and Leonard Lodoen. He was also cherished by many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Memorials are preferred to the Dovre Lutheran Church and the Newburg Senior Center.
