He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Maier and Hilda Maier (Gaebe); his stepmother Frieda; his brother William "Billy"; his godson Darrin Schwagler; his nephew Jerry Brewer; his goddaughter Michelle Maier; and his close friend Lorraine Schwinkendorf.
He is survived by: his sisters, Delores Maier of Fargo, ND and Shirley Heil (Dave) of Maple Valley, WA; his nieces and nephews, Debby Bubach (Russ) of Fargo, ND, Darla Brewer of Renton, WA, Jane Schwagler of Mandan, ND, Steven Heil and Jeff Heil (Marion); and his aunt Gloria Maier.
