He was predeceased by: his parents, Ted Hardmeyer and Loraine Hardmeyer; his siblings, Denise, Lisa and Eric; and his grandparents, Carl and Katharine Hardmeyer.

He is survived by: his former wife Julie Daggett; his children, Gabe (Anita), Grace, Lily, Juliet of Naples, Fla and Seth (Kari) of Frazee; his child-in-law Minn; his grandchildren, Faith Kern (Kyle), Hannah Conway (Carson Alger), Colton Conway, Lillian Adams, Hadley and Landon Kern; his siblings, Kent, Steve, Evan, Judith Hardmeyer-Wright, Jane Baker, Maribeth Hardmeyer, Lauren Donovan and Andrea Bacik; and his nieces and nephews, Hardmeyers and Daggetts.

He served on the board of the Mott Gallery of History and Art and was also an avid reader, with most of his books donated to the Mott Public Library.
