He was predeceased by: his parents, Norwegian and Carrie Olson (Swensgaard); his wife Irene; his son James Olson; and his siblings, Roy, Lloyd, Ted and Arline Getzlaff.

He is survived by: his children, Richard Olson (Mary Burns), Dr. David Olson (Kathy) and Mary Knoll (Gene); his grandchildren, Ross Knoll of Ashley, ND, Maggie Olson (Andy Forward) of Minot, Dr. Megan Olson (Nathan Stremick) of Minot, Kelly Hendershot (Chauncey) of Minot, Katie Delorme (Scott) of Minot and Julie Benedict (Michael) of Fargo; and his great grandchildren, Clarence Forward, Elizabeth "Betty" Forward, Grigor Paul Delorme, Emmy Hendershot, Charlie Hendershot, Lauren Hendershot and Grace Stremick.

The family requests, no flowers with memorials going to the donor's choice.
