Timothy L. Effertz Obituary

Timothy L. Effertz, age 80, left this life on November 25, 2021, from his home south of Surrey, North Dakota. Born to Marcus and Dorothy Effertz, Tim married Arlis Anderson of Mott, ND on November 12, 1960, and the striking young couple began their life’s journey. In the fall of 1962, Tim suffered extensive injuries as a firefighter that changed their plan, but not their commitment to family or the philosophy to greet each day as a blessing. Tim will be forever missed by Arlis and his family but will always be remembered for his ability to persevere, his remarkable talent to repair almost anything, and his intelligent approach to every challenge. His kind heart and creative personality were always far more visible than his wheelchair, and he will be remembered by friends and neighbors for his humor and selfless inclination to help others. Tim is preceded in death by his parents and his son, Kenneth. He lives on through Scott Effertz (Minot, ND), Kathleen (Greg) Harger (Galesburg, IL), and Debora Murray (Fargo, ND), as well as an incredible group of 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He is survived by one brother and three sisters who, along with their spouses and families, send their love from cities across the country. The family will not be holding a memorial service at this time and asks for correspondence via mail to express condolences.

Roger Sorensen wrote a sympathy message

“Hi Scott and Kathleen, I just read in my MSU Alumni magazine that your dad had died. I was very sorry to read that. Tim and I were in college at the same time and took some classes together; I believe he was in some of my physics or math classes. I always enjoyed chatting with him and I recall him telling me about his accident as a fire fighter. I always admired his great attitude and he was an inspiration to me as well. I will always have good thoughts about your dad. Roger Sorensen”
