He was predeceased by: his parents, Leo Burgard and Alice Burgard (Pfeifer); his parents-in-law, Arne Mahle and Valda Mahle; and his siblings, Larry Burgard, Bruce Burgard, Leo Burgard and Deborah Burgard.

He is survived by: his wife Valerie Mahle; his daughters, Becky (Bryan) and Jessica Klein (Travis); his grandchildren, Ava, Ella and Addison Merchant; his brothers, Gary Burgard and Dale Burgard; and his siblings-in-law, June Spaulding (Kris), Raymond (Peggy) and Michael (Amber). He is also survived by his family and friends.
