He was predeceased by: his parents, Matthew Lafontaine and Florence Lafontaine (Johnsen); his son Geary; and his siblings, Murial LeClair, John, David and Melvin Lafontaine (Arlene).
He is survived by: his wife Arlene Melting; his daughter Christine (Randy) of Grand Forks; and his grandchildren, Micah, Matthew, Elizabeth and Sophia. He is also survived by 13 great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
