She was predeceased by: her parents, Lawrence Nielsen and Evelyn Nielsen (Smith); and her husband Chester A. "Spike" Smith Jr.. She is survived by: her children, Minot, San Francisco, Jennifer "Libby" Claerbout (Christopher) and SaraBeth Wanzek (Nathan); her grandchildren, Amelia, Evelyn Claerbout, Adler and Emmett Wanzek; her brothers, Jeffrey Nielsen (Kathy) and Gary Nielsen (Kim); and her sister-in-law Susan Hill. She is also survived by her children, grandkids, family, friends.
Due to COVID, a service for family and intimate friends only will take place on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at 11:00 a. m. in First Lutheran Church in Minot.
Memorials are preferred to the Evelyn Nielsen Scholarship to support nursing students, c/o Minot State Foundation.
