It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Ellen Berning of Minot, North Dakota, born in Duluth, Minnesota, who passed away on October 9, 2024, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Thurston Okerstrom and Dorothy Okerstrom (Lindahl); her husband Wallace D. Berning (Wally); and also Anne Marie Johnson of Superior, Wisconsin.. She is survived by: her children, Todd Berning (Carolyn) of West Fargo and Shaun Ellen Gleason (Richard) of Denver, Colorado; her grandchildren, Landen Berning of Saint Louis Park, MN and Keenen Berning of Fargo; her stepgrandchildren, Trayton Molland of Minneapolis and Brandon Molland (Michelle) of Phoenix; her nieces, Michele Hudson Rothe of Steamboat Springs, Melinda Shepard Wamsher and Allison Butts of Kansas City; and her nephew John Hudson of Kansas City.
Memorials can be made to the Minot Public School Foundation or the Wallace D. Berning Scholarship Endowment at Minot State University.
