He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Hackett and Bertha Hackett (Wenzel); and his sister Alice Wickman. He is survived by: his wife Inez E. Hjelmeland; his children, Glenburn, Cyndi Underwood (Bill), Grant "Pete" Hackett (Donna Steinhaus), Margo Haskins (Bruce), Melanie Miller (Jeff), Norris Hackett (Marlys) and Marsha DesLauriers (David); his grandchildren, Kelly Culp (Mark), Bret Underwood (Jamie), Craig Underwood (Heather), Jesse Underwood (Katie), Jessica Fricke (Craig), Derek Hackett (Kelly), Rachel Schneider (David), Megan Davison (Jeff), Jamie Williams (Reginald), Brittany Bratsch (Jacob), Jacqueline Miller, Brooke Norlin (Lance) and Kelsy Sys (Ryan); and his brother Roger Hackett (Elaine).
Visitation was held on Monday, April 7th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Thompson - Larson Funeral Home (21 3rd Ave SW, Minot, ND 58701). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 8th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Our Savior Lutheran Church (3705 11th St SW, Minot, ND 58701).
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Homeless Coalition, Trinity Homes "Memory Care Unit", or to Our Savior Lutheran Church, Minot.
