He was predeceased by: his parents, Gustav Schmidt and Erma Schmidt (Bachel); his spouse Berleen Opland; and his siblings, Roland and Pearl.
He is survived by: his children, Rhonda Hill (Geoff) of Prescott, AZ, Rod Schmidt (Ann) of Bottineau, ND, Tim Schmidt (Dalenne) of Williston, ND and Bryan Schmidt (Alison) of Horace, ND; and his brother Bob Langford of Portland, OR. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, with 2 more great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Christ Lutheran Church Foundation, Minot.
