He was predeceased by: his parents, George Hartleib and Lilly Hartleib (Klimpel); his wife Sylvia Eisenzimmer; his siblings, Vernon Hartleib (Katherine), Fredrick Hartleib (Jean), Sharon Preskey (Robert), Murel Hartleib (Katherine), Jane Hartleib Trimble and George Hartleib, Jr.; and his brother-in-law Robert Seaborne.
He is survived by: his children, Candace Hartleib Kupser of Cottage Grove, MN, Carlyle Hartleib of Sioux Falls, SD and Charla Hartleib of Minot, ND; his grandchildren, Heather Gray (Randal), Collin Kupser (Karleen), Ariana Alfveby (Alexander), Bryton Kupser and Trista Hartleib; his great grandchildren, Emelyn Gray, Lian Gray, Archer Alfveby and Alise Alvfeby; and his siblings, Barbara Hartleib Seaborne, Rodney Hartleib, Keith Hartleib, Kenneth Hartleib (Kris), Noreen Hartleib Sousek, Steven Hartleib, Darrold Hartleib (Denise) and Gail Van Alstyne (Barney). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
