He was predeceased by: his parents, Alvin Nelson and Ella Nelson (Hansen); his son Gary; his brothers, Clifford, Calvin, Clarence and Carlton; his grandson-in-law Lee Helmers; his great grandchild Jaeger Huber; and his nephew Kent Medalen.
He is survived by: his wife Helen Anderson; his sons, Lowell Nelson and Mark Nelson (Michele); his grandchildren, Ryan Nelson, Crystal Jochim (Travis), Ashley Huber (Jason), Clay Nelson (Macie) and Kylee Nelson; his great grandchildren, Macy, Morgan Jochim, Eden, Ember and Jayes Huber; and his siblings, Curtis Nelson and Collette Maxwell. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Faith Baptist Church of Kenmare in honor of the mission work being done by Marie Modin and Cody Keysor.
