He was predeceased by: his parents, Ben Schatz and Ella Nora Schatz (Gilbertson); his granddaughter Layla Schatz; and his brothers-in-law, Lyle Schon, Kim Rath and Bill Sturkey.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Ann of Mercer; his children, Tina Goven (Brian) of Mercer and Bobby Schatz (Kelli) of Park River; his grandchildren, Victoria, Brooke, Jenna Goven of Mercer, Benjamin and Keegan Schatz of Park River; and his siblings, Doug Schatz (Donna), Marilyn Schon-Hedstrom (Curt), Randy Schatz (Deanna), Jeffrey Schatz (Tammy) and Renae Sturkey. He is also survived by his family and watching his children and grandchildren.
