He was predeceased by: his spouse Mamie Kotaska of Conway, ND; his parents, Severt and Louise; and his siblings, Olaf, Sigvald, John, Thelma Larson, Hilda Kotaska, Viola Anderson, Tillie Skow, Lila Wood and Esther Lein.
He is survived by: his brother Hilmer of Milford, MI; his children, John (Joann) of Meridian, ID and Iris Collies (Brian) of Herndon, VA; his grandchildren, Michael Howe of Omaha, NE, Christine Hawley (Dale) of Staunton, VA and Bryan Oos (Maham) of Philadelphia, PA; his great grandchildren, Andrew Howe of Omaha and Ayden Oos of Philadelphia; and his siblings-in-law, Alice Kotaska and Lee Wood. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
