He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Lyng and Alice Lyng (Langlie); his brother Orlin; his sister-in-law Margaret; his brother Duane; his sister-in-law Eileen; his brother Jim; his sister-in-law Linda; his niece Kimberly Lyng; his siblings-in-law, Hazel (Frank White), Howard Dalzell and Doris (Merlyn Dick); his nephew Roger; his sister-in-law Elaine; and also Jerry.
He is survived by: his wife Myrna; his children, Karen, Kathy Sawa (Glen) and John (Megan); his grandchildren, Keegan (Julie), Kellen Asmundson, Aaron, Taylor, Jake, Katie Sawa, Evelyn, Elliot and Ingrid Lyng; his great grandchild Arlo Asmundson; and his grandchild Langlie.
Memorials are preferred to the Merwin and Myrna Lyng Family Mathematics Scholarship at Mayville State.
