He was predeceased by: his parents, William Callahan and Bessie Callahan (Bruce); his daughter Kathleen; his siblings, Morris, Murphy, Margaret Bolster and Marie Cowley; and his parents-in-law, Al Bolster, Joe Cowley and Harriet Callahan.
He is survived by: his wife Ardis Hellekson; his children, Michael (Jean) of Minnewaukan, ND, Timothy (Lori) of Edgeley, Cynthia Houdek (Jeff) of Mayville, Karen Simons (Ed) of North Pole, AK and Wendy Savage of West Fargo, ND; his brother Mike Callahan (Sue) of Grafton, ND; and his sister-in-law Jean Callahan of Fargo, ND. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; two step grandchildren.
