He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Enger and Edna Enger; his wife Phyllis Ust; and his siblings, Eldred and Beverly Ostenson.
He is survived by: his daughters, Candy Lemer (Mitch) of Drake, ND, Cindy Petersen (Doug) of Mayville, ND and Chrystal Enger of Fargo, ND; his grandchildren, Levi Lemer of Rugby, ND, Hannah Lemer of Drake, ND, Mason Lemer of Drake, ND, Miranda Petersen of Hatton, ND and Gunnar Petersen of Mayville, ND; and his sisters-in-law, Shirley Holman (Bert), Joy Ust-McLain and Fran Ust. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
After retirement, Dennis and Phyllis volunteered for nine years in Medora for the Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation, spending two weeks every summer/fall in Medora.
