He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Zachmeier and Catherine Zachmeier (Jiran); and his siblings, Bill, Ed, Jim, Albert, Louie, Tommy and Harriet McFerran.

He is survived by: his sons, Steve (Char), Scott (Kim) and Tim (Cindy); his wife Lila Jahner; his grandchildren, Kyle Zachmeier (Heather), Kristie Zachmeier-Kirchmeier (Garret) and Cody Maier; his great grandchildren, Ryland, Kora Kirchmeier and Kennedy Zachmeier; and his siblings, Loretta Landeis (Tom) and Leo (Jodene).
