We are sad to announce that on February 8, 2025, Sophia Aweis (Mandan, North Dakota) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid Sophia farewell, let us not mourn the absence of her physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of her spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. For Sophia is not truly gone, but merely transformed, her energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.
She was predeceased by: her grandparents, Allison Blacklance and Marshall Blacklance. She is survived by: her parents, Carrie Blacklance and Nureini Aweis; and her grandmothers, Venita Abeyta and Fowzia Adde. She is also survived by grandmas, grandpas, aunties, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, February 18th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Weigel Funeral Home (309 4th Ave NW, Mandan, ND 58554). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, February 19th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Wednesday, February 19th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:15 PM at the St. James Cemetery.
