He was predeceased by: his child Along; his former wife Ann Koller of Glen Ullin; his son Brian; his parents, Paul Sr. Schaff and Magdalena Schaff; his siblings, Adam, Tony, Katie Taghon, Barbara Saumell and Leona Schaff; his niece Judy Bankhead (Preston); and his siblings-in-law, Gertrude Koller, Bill, Clara Miller, Martin Koller, Lawrence Koller, Ned Chandler, John Koller (Mimi) of Great Neck, NY and Mary Mieras of Orlando, FL.
He is survived by: his wife Laura Helbling-Schaff (Hopfauf); his children, Jim Schaff, Jerry Schaff (Brenda) and Sue Gullickson (Clair); his grandchildren, Amanda Fisher (Donny), Clayton Schaff (Megan), Brent Schaff, Cole Gullickson (Amy), Callie Gullickson (Bayle Bertch), Carsten Gullickson, Amber Mathern and Ashten Bristow (Herb); his siblings, Bertha Heinrich of Bismarck, Joe Schaff (Ruby) of Bismarck, Marianne Blasco (Mike) of Bismarck, Tom (Lois) of Shakopee, MN and Martin Schaff (Angie); his siblings-in-law, Mike Koller (Bev), Glen Ullin, Barbara Schaff, Delores Koller, Sister Annuncia, Lucy Koller, Minneapolis and Irene (Chris); his stepchildren, Brandon Helbling (Julie) of Mandan, Montague Helbling of Mandan and Lacey Paul (Jeff) of Queen Creek, AZ; his stepgrandchildren, Breanna, Brady, Austin Helbling, Brody and Brooklyn Paul; and his siblings-in-law, John Hopfauf (Mel) of San Antonio, TX, Dwight Hopfauf (Lynn) of Roscoe, IL, Scott Hopfauf (Kareen) of Bismarck, Dean Hopfauf (Jeri) of Bismarck, Jacque Hahn, Marlys Hopfauf and Lynette Hopfauf. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren.
Paul and Laura began creating concrete leaves, glass water fountains, and bird feeders during the Covid crisis.
