He was predeceased by: his brothers, Marty and Matthew. He is survived by: his parents, Albert Frey and Darlene Frey of Mott, ND; his sisters, Melissa Reisenauer (Allan) of Bismarck, ND and Maggie Backen (Ross) of Minot, ND; his nieces, Brooklynn and Isabelle; his nephew Oliver; and his godmother Helen Rieneke. He is also survived by many uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family has established a memorial.
