Joan left this world on February 13, 2025 at the age of 98, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. She was predeceased by: her parents, Arsenius Wuitschick and Magdelina Wuitschick (Richter); her husband John; her daughter-in-law Loretta Riehl; and her siblings, Oscar, Joe, Andy, Carl, Art, Katie, Rose and Wally.
She is survived by: her children, Steven Riehl, Jeffrey Riehl (Paulette), Rod Riehl (Paula), Brad Riehl (Janet), Audrey Ternes (Roger), Laurel Weigelt (Bob), Sherryl Lefor (Mike) and Patti Levorsen (Eric); her grandchildren, Linda Bullinger (Chad), Brenda Heinrich (Tedd), Tammy Backhaus (Troy), Todd Hopfauf (Colette Fetch), Steve Helfrich (Dawna), Manda Riehl (Jamie Browning), Katie Riehl, Emily Riehl (Sam Anderson), Elizabeth Riehl (Glen French), Chandra Johnson (Roby), Trista Fisher (Todd), Mitchell Riehl (Tracy), Ivy Pokorny, Dwight Ternes, Marc Ternes (Holly Polanchek), Brett Lefor (Sam), Scott Lefor, Andi Lefor (Mat Charley), Dayn Levorsen, Bryce Levorsen, Cienna Mrnak (Clint) and Aidan Levorsen (Breanna Brezinski); her sisters, Liz Kraft and Maggie Feist; and her sister-in-law Emma Loeb.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, February 19th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Thursday, February 20th 2025 at 9:30 AM. A rosary was held on Wednesday, February 19th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the Weigel Funeral and Cremation Service (309 4th Ave NW, Mandan, ND 58554). A Mass was held on Thursday, February 20th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church (108 3rd St NE, Mandan, ND 58554). A burial was held on Thursday, February 20th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery (1825 46th St, Mandan, ND 58554). Joan grew up hearing stories about her dad riding horseback to nearby farms to check on neighbors who were hit by the flu pandemic of 1918.
