He was predeceased by: his parents, William O. Mertz and Melita Mertz (Anhorn); his siblings, Allen, Whelan, Arlin, Darliss Laib, Glennis Muscha and Melita Rose Mertz; and his siblings-in-law, Elmer Laib, Bennie Muscha, Robert Miller and Dorothy Miller.
He is survived by: his wife Marilyn Miller; his children, Brenton Mertz (Teresa), Heather Mertz and Shonda Mertz; his grandchildren, Ashley Herzig, Allison Mertz and Brock Mertz; his great grandchildren, Easton Beeter, Chance Mertz and Jayleigh Herzig; his siblings, Ronald (Loretta), William (Carol), David (Sharon), Curtis (Linda), Clarence (Nancy) and Lois; and his siblings-in-law, Terry Miller (Millie), Joel Miller, Shirley Mertz, Marlene Grate and Virginia Bachler (Marlin). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
