She was predeceased by: her father Paul Schaff; her husband Paul Heinrich; her daughters, Judith "Judi" Bankhead and Joanne Peltier; her grandchildren, Dion Heinrich and Tayla Steffes; and her siblings, Barbara, Kathryn, Leona, Anton, Adam and Paul.

She is survived by: her mother Magdalena Schaff (Wetsch); her children, Elizabeth "Bette" Poppers (Dave) of Centennial, CO, Dennis Heinrich (Julie) of Airway Heights, WA and Danny Heinrich (Stella) of Littleton, CO; her son-in-law Preston Bankhead of Jamul, CA.; her niece Carol Friesz; her grandchildren, Scott Poppers of Highlands Ranch, CO, Jennifer Poppers-Karlsson of San Francisco, CA, Korrie Meisch of Hermitage, TN, Kim Storbakken of Wahpeton, ND, Tammy Kropp of Phoenix, AZ, Shelly Heinrich of Spokane, WA, Leon Heinrich of Pinehurst, ID, Juan Peltier of Mandan, ND, Ben Heinrich of Aurora, CO, Nick Heinrich of Centennial, CO and Andrew Heinrich of Castlerock, CO; her siblings, Marianne Blasco (Mike) of Bismarck, ND, Joe (Ruby) of Bismarck, ND, Martin (Angie) of Mandan, ND and Tom (Lois) of Shakopee, MN; and her sisters-in-law, Barbara Schaff of Bismarck, ND and Laura Schaff of Mandan, ND. She is also survived by 25 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

Bertha was a member of Christ the King (CTK) Church, the Catholic Daughters, CTK Christian Mothers, Medcenter One Hospital Auxiliary, RSVP North Dakota, and the Mandan Golden Age Club.

The family requests memorials be given to Christ the King Scholarship Fund, Bismarck Cancer Center, or a charity of choice.
