He was predeceased by: his parents, Anselm Ternes and Deonella Ternes (Braun); his wife Irene Kopp of Gertrude's Catholic Church; his sons, Herbert and Joseph; his grandchildren, DJ Ferderer and Jasmyn Knippling; his great grandchild Avery Garr; his son-in-law Ray Heidt; and his siblings, Claudina Ternes, Ambrose, Bill, Lenus, Ray, Alois and Bert.
He is survived by: his children, Leonella Garr (Mike) of Rapid City, SD, Henri Heidt, Claudina Ferderer (Dennis), Debbie Will (Lelyn) of Linton, ND, Mary Ann Heidt (Dean) of Rapid City, SD, Trisha Helbling (Dewey) of Lincoln, ND, Aggie Eastham, Stephanie Ternes of Ramona, SD, Connie Friesz (Randy) of Page, ND, Roxanne Drogen of Valley City, ND, Terry Ternes (Lorrie) of Anna, TX, Robert Ternes (Brenda) of Shields, ND and Scott Ternes of Black Hawk, SD; his daughter-in-law Sandra Ternes of Grand Prairie, TX.; and his siblings, Alvina Buck (John) of Billings, MT, Larry and Balzer (Joan).
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 21st 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Weigel Funeral and Cremation Service (309 4th Ave NW, Mandan, ND 58554). A rosary will be held on Thursday, November 21st 2024 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 22nd 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Ascension Catholic Church (1825 S 3rd St, Bismarck, ND 58504). A burial will be held on Friday, November 22nd 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the St. Gertrude Catholic Church (7785 St Gertrude Ave, Raleigh, ND 58564).
